My life in pictures...
Hello, me again! As the weather becomes colder I think it's time to reflect on the fantastic summer I've had. I've visited various different countries and caught up with friends all over the world, including two of my closest friends Marissa and Karin who I met on my contract with Creativiva in Turks and Caicos. Marissa is from New York and she came to stay with me in England for a week and we then went to visit Karin in Spain for a few days. We had such a lovely time and I feel very grateful that my career allows me not only to travel all over the world with my job, but also to make lifelong friendships with people from all over the world. I also graduated from GSA- University of Surrey this summer with a First Class Hons in Theatre. I had a beautiful day celebrating with friends and family, who were all very proud of me. I am forever thankful for their ongoing support.
Since I graduated from Bodywork last year, I have unintentionally done a very good job as escaping the cold weather and this year wasn't any different. At the end of August I accepted a job working as a Dancer at Blue Lagoon Village in Kos, Greece. I have spent the past couple of months performing in various different themed shows under the Greek sun, as well as developing various other skills. I have met some great people and made lots of fantastic memories- of course documented by my renowned (lol) Day 1/Day 2/ Day 3...etc Instagram posts. I return back home to England next week and I am looking forward to getting home and really working on myself as a performer; attending lots of classes and developing lots of new skills. I also have had a couple of exciting opportunities presented to me for the Christmas period so I will be keeping you updated on that. However, for now I think it's time to accept that I need to buy a new winter coat, as I don't think I am escaping England's winter this year (or am I... ;))….
Ta ta for now,
Hey! Sorry it's been a while, I've been a pretty busy girl. I mentioned at the end of my last post that I was going to be part of a project with BAFTA award-winning photographer Alison Jackson. Alison had a show called 'Shot to Fame' on at the Soho Theatre; I had a great time being involved and will post some photo's below- the Donald Trump lookalike resemblance was uncanny!
I then headed off to Marbella for a few days and a couple of days after my return to the UK, I found out I had landed a contract with Serendipity Castings as a dancer at Buddha Bar in Marrakech. I spent the next 5 weeks being a part of Circus, Oriental and Showgirl themed shows and had a fantastic time making great friends and great memories- all whilst getting to do what I love every day (again I will post some photos below). I returned home on May 12th but kept my return a secret as I then surprised my best friend for her birthday. She was over-the-moon and the look on her face was priceless, which made all the sneaking around worthwhile. I then celebrated my own birthday on the 19th May; I had a lovely day in the sun with friends and family and of course enjoyed watching the Royal Wedding!
On Tuesday 21st May I then handed in my final assignment for my BA Hons in Theatre. My final assignment consisted of a play script, written by myself; along with a supporting essay documenting my process. I am so happy with the finish product and I am truly invested in the prospect of producing this play in the future. I know I may be biased, but I think it has great potential and I hope my grade reflects that. I now look forward to receiving my results, and then graduating in July!
Yesterday I had a slightly surreal moment whilst I was daydreaming on the train, and really it involved everything that I am writing about in these posts. In this moment of reflection, I had the realisation that so many things that I used to dream about, were now a reality. I have been lucky enough to be employed on two long-term contracts as well as many other shorter ones, all within a year of graduating. I have lived in 5 different countries in the past year, and visited 7 in 2018 alone. I am part of great agencies, for both Musical Theatre, Dance, Modelling and Events. I am healthy, happy and surrounded by the most amazing friends and family who support me in everything I do. I guess this moment of reflection, was a moment to realise how far I've come; how I'm doing things I never believed I would and that as my confidence grows, so will my gratitude.
Thank you so much for reading, and I hope you enjoy the photos below. Until next time!
Just a little update! So since my last post I've been up to a few bits and bobs; I spent a few days in Hamburg which was lots of fun. I took part in One True Grit which is a 8k Obstacle Race through various muddy fields and freezing cold lakes; it was very demanding but the sense of pride after completing it made it completely worth it. I also performed in 'The Jukebox and Bobbysox Show' at The Harlequin Theatre in Surrey which was a great night. I've been performing with the show a good few years now, and it's so lovely to speak to the audience after the show, who always thoroughly enjoy it and return to see show time-and-time again. Alongside all of this I have been spending my spare time tapping away at my computer writing a play which I am very excited about. I'm really enjoying writing and developing my skills as a playwright, it's very interesting to be behind the other side of the script.
So what's next? Well I'm very excited to be partaking in BAFTA and award-winning artist Alison Jackson's show 'Shot To Fame' at the Soho Theatre on Monday 19th March as she goes behind-the-scenes to show the audience how she creates a 'fake reality' with celebrity lookalikes. I also have some modelling shoots booked and also have had a couple of other exciting opportunities presented to me, which I will update you on ASAP. Finally, I am off to Marbella for a few days at the end of the month. I'm very much looking forward to seeing the sun after a very cold last few weeks here in England.
That's all for now, thank you for reading!
After the most amazing 8 months away working in Canada, Jamaica and the Turks and Caicos Islands performing lead roles in 4 different musicals, I am officially home and back to England. Since being home I have signed with Northbridge Talent and am looking forward to some exciting auditions coming up. After completing the first half of my top-up BA Hons in Theatre, I am also now working hard researching and planning for a play I am writing for the second part of my degree.
I have a performance of 'The Jukebox and Bobbysox Show' of which I am dance captain and lead dancer on the 9th March 2018 at The Harlequin Theatre in Redhill, Surrey, which I am really looking forward to. I have loved Rock 'n' Roll music and dancing since the young age of 12 when I became a Rock 'n' Roll Champion Level Dancer, so I really enjoy sharing my love of this style and era with an audience who can never resist dancing along in the aisles. It's also great to share the stage with a live band, extremely talented vocalists and backing vocalists, and of course the rest of the Bobbysox Dancers.
